Lindsay Fendt is the investigative environmental reporter at Searchlight New Mexico. She got her start as the environment and health reporter for The Tico Times in San José, Costa Rica and then as a freelancer for publications like The Guardian, Smithsonian Magazine, bioGraphic, NPR, U.S. News and World Report and many others. In 2017 she moved to Colorado for the Scripps Fellowship in Environmental Journalism and started work on a book about the global rise of environmental murders. In 2020 she was given the Alicia Patterson Fellowship to continue her work on covering environmental killings. Her book and several longform stories on this topic will be released as soon as the pandemic eases up and she can travel to complete the reporting.
